In passed, the Airedale Terrier used to call it the “king of the Terriers”, to fight against the river otters in and out of the water.
Height: weight: 58-61 cm high; weighs, aprox. 22,5 kg. Well proportioned and quick.
Fur, color: double fur; thick and stiff hair coverage; short and soft under hair.
Appropriate for: people who want a dog that is not so complicated and that has a good guardian capacity.
Not Appropriate for: “stuck up” or weak people.
As a member of the family: Is one of the best family-dog and loves children. Good guardian; is patient and quiet.
Breed’s character: bold, intrepid, intelligent, easiness to learn, appreciates the attention. Lively and playful even when old. Hard to live with other dogs and domestic animals. It came from the cross of a hunting Terrier with a hunter of small game (which is where it got its fancy for the water).
Common sicknesses: has a tendency to the eczema + to the skin tumors.
Life expectancy: up to 14 years of age.
