As a member of the family: a tough dog, with a tender heart. Ideal domestic dog. Above anything else, it loves its owners. Hates to be alone. Excellent with children. It is a good watch dog of the house and those who reside in it.
Breed’s character: lively and spirited. Intelligent. Very temperamental. This dog, along with the Sheep Dog of Brie, appears in the Middle Ages, protecting herds and cattle.
