Practice "Stay" while dog trainer goes out of sight. Have all of the group's dogs lie down as short a distance from each other as possible. All of the dog trainers would walk away together, quickly and in a tight group, until they are out of sight of the dogs (behind a building or the like). The course instructor would keep an eye on the dogs. After a predetermined time all of the dog trainers would come walking quickly back, wait for a few seconds for the signal from the course instructor and then "free" their dogs.

Practice with "Stop" and another dog. This practice is done as a team. One dog must be laying or sitting down and his dog trainer must walk away at a short distance. Another dog gets the order to "Sit" by his dog trainer who is about thirty feet away. The first dog trainer then passes by in a straight line behind the dog that is lying down or sitting. As soon as the dog trainer has walked about thirty feet away, he turns around and calls his or her dog. As soon as the dog gets to the place where the other dog is, he or she stops the dog. When the dog has done this, both dog trainers go back to their dogs. And then it is practiced the other way around.
