Dog and cat kennel

Since my neighbor's dog and cat get along so splendidly they decided to get them a dog and cat kennel. I have rarely seen such a thing and was pretty sure that it was going to end in disaster but was I in for a big surprise. Both the dog and cat have their own separate houses inside of the kennel but they share the rest of the space between them.

Of course having your dog and cat together in one kennel has its inherent problems but if the cat and dog are respectful of each other the problems really aren't much more than those experienced by people that have kennels with more than one dog.
In the case of my neighbors' cat its house is up high on a perch and this is where it eats as well. This set up helps to keep its food out of the reach of their dog and also gives the cat a place high up where it feels safe.

Any kennel whether for a dog or cat (or both) must be well built. Some of the best kennels are those with solid steel frames and that use uni-body heavy duty wire mesh perimeter systems.
If a dog and cat have a really good relationship there are even dog and cat duplex houses that can be bought online and by using one of these you would even free up more space for the dog and cat to play inside of the kennel. Even if you have pet houses inside of the kennel it is still best to have a kennel cover over the top to protect your pets from the sun and rain. If the spacing in the wire mesh perimeter is too large the dog or cat could become stuck in it causing injury so the wire fencing that any dog and cat kennel employs needs to have spaces that are a size that will not be dangerous in anyway for the dog or cat.
