WHY IS MY CAT DOING THIS ?hi i am a new member and my name is jo,
i have a bengal tiger cat who is just over a year old, i am having big problems with her spraying at the moment (she already been neuted)she is doing it on my bed, curtains in the bedroom and the curtains in the front room, i have bought stuff from the vet (felaway) but this has not helped so i bought some spray called keep off from the pet shop they said that would work but it doesn't, i have spoke to the vet and they told me vinigar and water should help, i have sprayed lots all over the house smells more like a fish and chip shop now but this has not worked, has anyone got any ideas.??
i know there is alot of other cats where i live and when i let her out (on her harness)and she picks on them all.could this be an issue??
and why im on the subject of letting her out ,has any body got any tips ,as im to scared to let her out without her harness on,as i think she might get stolen or get lost/not come back, and she cost so much money i dont want to take the risk.

Hi Jo! I do hope you mean a Bengal cat and not a tiger!!  Here in America they are just called Bengals. Most likely she is spraying because of the cats outside...It is very upsetting to them.... You might ask your vet if there are products there that might help keep the strays and others away from your property....that will help a lot for her mind. Feliway should help but I have no idea how long it takes to work... How long ago was she spayed? If it was recent, it may take time.... Any chance she might have a bladder infection? Some cats will do this if they have one......I don't know if Simple Solution is available in your country....see if it is....Your home won't smell like a fish and chips shop and it does a great job of neutralizing oders!!
I hate to say this, but from everything I've heard (which is not a ton and I would not consider my source unbiased at all), a lot of Bengals do that. Their wild genes still tell them they need to mark their territory.
Nature's Miracle works well too.
Well, I didn't realize the Bengals were that close to their wild roots! That could have a lot to do with it... One of the things I did read though was they do tend to be high maintainance as far as their purrsonality! They don't like being alone and can be destructive. Do you think any of this might be because your loved kitty is alone too much? Siamese can certainly exhibit some weird behavior if they are alone too much....
Also, considering everything......the value of your cat as well as how much you love her, I would not even consider letting her outside unless she was leashed.. I know in the UK people are much more likely to let cats out but I would not...I would be so very afraid of something happening to them....your choice though... :)
