HELP! New rescue not doing well!

Postby sknydog » Thu Apr 10, 2008 11:41 pm

I just adopted a two year old female who had been in the rescue cages for almost a year. I brought her home this past Saturday night. She has only eaten a few bites of food since then and throws up everything she eats. I have tried the food that rescue had her on, I have tried boiled chicken and rice, wet can food, broth and she throws it all right up. She will even throw up stomach bile and some of that has been pink with blood (I am guessing.) She has been acting OK as far as coming out from under the bed and talking to me and rubbing on me and she stretches, etc. I have only known her to use the litter box ONCE since coming home and I have not found where she has pottied outside of the litter box. My rescue contact thinks she is just stressed after having lived in a cage for a year and is now in a home with another cat, 6 dogs and 3 kids. But she has only been in my bedroom and only my cat has interacted with her which she has seemed fine with. I am waiting on a call from my vet now but was hoping someone could offer some advice in the meantime.

Admin, just so you know, she posted twice and we did get help and answers to her! :) It's hard when topics are posted twice but several members do try to hit the board at least once a day to be sure someone is "on call" if there is a need....Many of us dearly want this cat board to succeed as well as the SeeFido dog board. It is really nice to have a nice cat board to come to and not have to deal with the hairball throwing that happens on other boards! Thanks for running such a nice clean show here and at SeeFido/Dogs!
